A driver for a Phoenix trucking company has been charged after this morning's accident which partially closed down U.S. 70 this morning.

The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. on the bridge over the Neuse River in Kinston. Both westbound lanes were closed due to the accident, but one has since reopened.

Allen McCreary the driver of that tractor was charged with improper lane change after the crash. McCreary was hauling a load of appliances from New Bern to Arizona when police say he tried to make a lane change and clipped the rear end of another vehicle.

The driver and passenger in that car were treated and released from Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

The accident damaged to the bridge's guardrail on the right side of the bridge. A 40 foot section of the concrete guardrail was taken out by the crash, one lane of the span to be closed through Friday for repairs.

Until then the westbound lanes will be limited to just one lane.
