Trucking Accident Article:
An accident took place when a semi truck stuck a Toyota Corolla and then the truck went into a building leads one person dead.
The accident happened Tuesday morning at 144410 US Highway 27 North, near Jackson Street in Lake Wales.
The semi drove into the Payes Trailer Parts building after crashing into a Toyota Corolla. Sky 10 video shows the building almost completely demolished and heavy damage to both the car and the truck.
The driver of the Toyota was declared dead on scene, while an adult male passenger of the Toyota was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was transported to Lake Wales Medical Center with non-serious injuries.
Investigators believe the Toyota was traveling east on Jackson Street when it entered the southbound lane of US 27, in an attempt to continue forward to the median and then turn north onto US 27.
When it entered the southbound lane, it entered into the path of the semi-truck hauling sand, which was heading southbound in the outside lane on US 27.
As the two vehicles collided, the semi-truck pushed the Toyota all the way into the building.
No one was in the business at the time.
