Trucking Accident Article:
Interstate 77 reopens back after a crash between Fed-Ex truck and tractor trailer that laid to the injury and several hours of traffic jam.
An accident is causing some delays on Interstate 77 at the Yeager Bridge near Charleston.
The accident happened at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Dispatchers tell WSAZ.com two semi trucks were involved in the accident and one of them hit the guardrail.
The southbound lanes were closed just before the Yeager Bridge for more than an hour. However, one SB lane is back open to traffic at this time.
Northbound is also down to one lane.
The Department of Highways is asking drivers to get off I-77 South at the 35th Street Bridge and get back on at MacCorkle Avenue in Kanawha City.
One of the drivers involved in the crash tells WSAZ.com a Fed-Ex truck heading north, crossed the median and hit another tractor trailer traveling south. The impact of the crash caused the truck headed south to go into the median and then it was hit by a car.
The Fed-Ex truck that was involved in the accident ended up on its side off the roadway. The driver of this truck was taken to the hospital.
Three other drivers trying to avoid this accident were involved in a second crash. One person involved in this accident was also taken to the hospital.
